2000 Strips!

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been this long. I’ve officially now done 2000 strips. It doesn’t feel that long, and frankly, it’s kind of weird to think that I’ve created something 2000 times. In the end, though, I am very thankful to have such a great audience who has stuck with the strip for so long, and to have new readers each and every day! Here’s to the next 2000!

PS: If you missed the 2000th strip, check it out here

Year 4 Anthology NOW AVAILABLE!

Hot on the heels of the release of the Complete Year Three Anthology, the Forth Year anthology of the famed comic strip is now available!, and if your curious you can even take a look inside.

(Of course the first three years of anthologies are still available)

What People are Saying about Oh My Gods!

“This is some seriously clever occult humor! Hey, someone had to take the piss out of NeoPaganism. Leave it to Shivian Balaris to apply his observations and critiques in the form of entertaining comic art. For a lighthearted, fun, and educational perspective of our weird and Witchy ways, Oh My Gods! is the place to turn.”
Raven Digitalis, author of Shadow Magick Compendium & Goth Craft

Lon Milo DuQuette, author of The Chicken Qabalah of Rabbi Lamed Ben Clifford

“I’ve been enjoying Oh My Gods! long enough to remember when the Boob Vampire still had boobs! Quirky characters, fun storylines, and consistent quality have kept me hooked for years. Amid the humor, there are honest assessments of some of the Pagan community’s not-so-finest moments, and occasionally a good “zing” will hit a little close to home. Still, it’s wrapped in some of the best of what the community has to offer, and gives us a good chance to laugh and learn.”
Lupa, author of DIY Totemism: Your Personal Guide to Animal Totems

“[Oh My Gods!] has done what only one other webcomic has made me do: want to go to church and repent for my sins.”
Summer, Oh My Gods! Fan

Year 3 Anthology NOW AVAILABLE!

The third year anthology of the famed comic strip is now available!, and if your curious you can even take a look inside.

(Of course the Complete Year One Anthology and Complete Year Two Anthology are also still available!)

What People are Saying about Oh My Gods!

“An irreverent romp through our modern pagan culture … its humor spotlights the foibles and fun of being pagan in the 21st century … it always adds a smile to my day.”
Dana Haefne, owner of Kamala Health & Beauty

“I love Oh My Gods!”
Christopher Penczak, author of the Inner Temple of Witchcraft

“The new age is no safer from parody here than fundamentalist Christians are. It’s this quality of being able to laugh at all religions with an understanding of human foibles that makes the strip fun and funny instead of elitist holier-than-thou crap. There’s an intelligence here, as well as a sense of humor that comes from really knowing human nature. Oh My Gods! may claim to be about the powers that be, but it’s really about we, the people, down here on earth. Excellent.”
Barb Lien-Cooper, Sequential Tart

“Irreverent, tongue-in-cheek look at life; no one in this strip is safe from the core characters’ scathing wit, not even themselves. My Catholic friend couldn’t stop reading; when I heard about the site, we both spent every moment online reading every single one until we had read them all! 9 out of 10, Excellent.”
Wolfen Moondaughter, Sequential Tart

“A+ for originality, A+ for content … a little obscure and odd. It’s cute, check it out.”
Shadow Witch Web Review

“One of the few daily webcomics I make it a point to read: Oh My Gods! – a very funny pagan-centric strip that pokes fun at religion, tradition, superstition, icons, and most importantly, itself.”
KU-2, October, 2004

Latest Updates

Not only are there new strips for all of May, but I’ve updated some of the site’s functionality as well. Hopefully now some of the problems with Captcha (et al) will be gone. Let me know if anything is broken the moment you find it broken using the contact page.

Lastly, due to the number of problems it was causing, the Fan Map has been moved to it’s own page in the Fans section. Enjoy!

Servers

I know several of you have sent me emails, IMs, faxes, copies, carrier pigeons, owls, mice, astral projections, and smoke signals to tell me that the Oh My Gods! site is slooooooooow. To this, I thank you greatly! Please know that I am working to improve it. Thankfully the Oh My Gods! shared server was recently transfered to a Dreamhost Private Server (check them out for more info). I now have to begin the dance of how much memory / bandwidth does the site need and how much memory / bandwidth can I afford (the site doesn’t really pay for itself). So please know that I really, Really, REALLY want to give you the best Oh My Gods! experience possible, but I also have to balance that against a pocket-book that is feasible.

I hope for a continually brighter future as Oh My Gods! moves ever onward! Thanks again to all of you for your sharing, support, caring, and love.

Spring Theme is Here!

I know some of you might still have snow on the ground (just as we did on the first day of the Great Ram) but it’s official, Spring is Here and the Sun rides tween the horns of the Great Ram! Rejoice! To this, the Spring Theme is released! Double Rejoicing!

Being Sick Stinks

Sorry for the delay in strips everyone, I got freakishly sick with a really bad cough and it put me behind by far more then I appreciated. I fell behind in many things in my life, Oh My Gods! being one of them. Thank you to all of you who were patient and who sent me well wishes and energy. It was, and is, most appreciated. Thankfully I am much better now!

Enjoy the update, and I will strive to continue to be back on-the-ball once more!

Welcome Meebo Chat Room! RIP That's My Mouse

Some super nifty new changes happened today to Oh My Gods! First, Oh My Gods! now officially holds a Creative Commons License. What in Hera’s name does that mean? you ask… simple! It means that so long as you credit this site, and don’t modify the comic strip, you are fully and legally allowed to post Oh My Gods! Strips anywhere for personal use. Yep, no kidding! Fun huh?! Also, the Strips RSS Feed was updated to now include the News so that everyone can keep ahead of the game and know whats going on with the strip! Of course, the News Feed is still available for those souls who only wish to follow it without the clutter of the comic.

iGoogle Oh My Gods! Theme - Coming Soon

iGoogle just opened up it’s theming engine so that anyone can create a theme for the iGoogle interface. Of course, this means that Oh My Gods! will have to create a theme for such a beautiful engine. More details to come… stay tuned!

Hope everyone enjoys the new Winter Theme — officially released here, on the first day of Winter in the States (even if it might feel like Winter arrived a while ago to some of us)! A Blessed Winter Holiday (or lack thereof) to everyone, whatever it may (or may not) be! Of course, you can change your theme, and switch to the old Fall theme, as well as the Generic one at any time by editing your settings in your profile. Don’t have a profile? Create one!

SJ Tucker's New Album - Solace and Sorrow

For those who don’t know of SJ Tucker, I strongly recommend a listen. I just recently was able to get her latest album, Solace & Sorrow, and wow is it amazing. I am deeply in love with the inspired poetry from the book The Orphan’s Tales: In the Cities of Coin and Spice by Catherynne Valente on which the album is focused. The songs of the stories send tingles up my spine as I hear lovely notes sing to manticores and firebirds – as SJ’s storytelling excites me with her myriad of uses of her fantastic voice. I know that it has not only made me find new love in the art of storytelling, but also has made me decide that I need to make sure I pick up both volumes I and II of the Orphan’s Tales in due time – but first, I must hear more and more and more of Solace & Sorrow.

Also, recently, Oh My Gods! was mentioned for it’s recent strips on the Pentacle / Courthouse saga(s) – how fun is that?!

Year 2 Anthology NOW AVAILABLE!

The second year anthology of the famed comic strip is now available!, and if your curious you can even take a look inside.

(Of course the Complete Year One Anthology is also still available!)

What People are Saying about Oh My Gods!

“I love Oh My Gods!”
Christopher Penczak, author of the Inner Temple of Witchcraft

“Oh My Gods! Comic strip is the best thing I’ve read for ages! I’ve been a fan since the early days when it was just black and white … Shivian has a knack of getting to the heart of neo-pagan trends – often via the jugular. Cutting, witty, sometimes camp – but always exquisitely observed humor. Never one to shy away from poking fun at himself, as well as the quirks of the neo-pagan community and their real world interactions. I miss the old black & white strips – there is less to use my crayons on.”
Jon Randall, Editor of Pentacle Magazine

“With ‘Oh My Gods’ Shivian holds a mirror to Pagan culture and makes us laugh at our own reflection – a potentially dangerous sport, but executed with prowess by his cute and quirky characters and his own charming sense of humor.”
deò, of deò‘s Shadow, a pagan podcast

“Shivian Balaris’ Oh My Gods! is an absolutely necessary read for modern spiritual seekers of all stripes – Shivian and his comic provide an invaluable dose of balancing humor in our day-to-day world, where we all, more often than not, take ourselves and our spirituality much too seriously!”
S.J. Tucker, Pagan Musician

“This anthology won’t give you all 105 keys to Tibetan esoteric wisdom. It won’t teach you how to fly away expediently when a small horde of eastern European townsfolk come after you with pitch-forks and torches. But it will make you laugh. Which, if you ask me, is far more important. If there’s anything in this world that’s still divine and left unsoiled, it’s the power of laughter to bring a smile to one’s face.”
St. Faust, Mad Profit of Discordia
